Risk Decision-Making in the 21st Century |
|
|
Presented by David Moore at the American Society of Safety Engineers Symposium in Bakersfield, CA, on March 8th, the theme of the talk was the need for and benefits of developing a risk decision-making policy within an organization. Some of the reasons for this include the increased legal and regulatory pressures of managing risk in the 21st century. Managing smart in the 21st century will include a structured approach to risk management. Regulatory-driven minimal efforts are not enough and the decisions will get harder under increased scrutiny in the future. The talk highlighted the key factors to consider in evaluating risks, and showed a very practical approach to assist management in risk decisions. Risk Based Decision-Making is required in today's business environment. It involves a multitude of issues including: A full evaluation of risk; identification of options; evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of options; and decision-making under uncertainty The entire slide set for the talk can be downloaded from AcuSafe's Site.
