Meet the new Editor of AcuSafe News - David Garcia - and an announcement on the Opening of AcuSafe's Safety and Risk Management Discussion Forums

AcuSafe News has a new editor. John Lee, whose tireless efforts contributed to the growth of the newsletter from inception to 1500 members and nearly 50,000 hits per month in only nine months, has decided to turn over the editor position so that he can focus attention on software development and other pursuits for us. He will continue to contribute articles on a regular basis. (See, for example, his follow-up article on whether process safety has improved over the last ten years.) His shoes will be hard to fill, but I am pleased to be accepting the opportunity. I have a J.D. with eight years experience in the environmental and safety consulting field. As an AcuTech employee for over four years, my recent experience has emphasized regulatory matters for the process industries. As AcuSafe's Webmaster, I have also provided much of the content for the site and will continue to do so.

Consistent with the spirit of continuous improvement, AcuSafe is pleased to announce the availability of a forum for discussing safety and risk management issues. There are currently three discussion areas: Process Safety, Human Factors, and Catch-All General Forum. Additional discussion forums will be added according to interest. If you have a question that some of our other readers may be able to answer, give it a try!

AcuSafe has an update that most of our readers should be aware. EPA revised its RMP Program Guidance to reflect changes from the Chemical Safety Information, Site Security and Fuels Regulatory Relief Act. The general guidance and industry-specific information for ammonia refrigeration, wastewater treatment, chemical distributors, and warehouses are available at AcuSafe

There is a great site out there for all you seasoned travelers concerned about airline safety. Check out AcuSafe's Resource Links page and select Emergency Preparedness/Disaster. The AirDisaster.com web is a great resource for airplane disaster information and investigations.
