Out of this concern has sprung a potentially far-reaching proposed Act titled the Chemical Security Act of 2001, S.1602. The Act was introduced on 10/31/2001 by Senators Corzine (D; NJ), Jeffords (D; VT), Boxer (D; CA), and Clinton (D; NY). As of this date the bill has been read twice and referred to the Committee on Environment and Public Works. The Committee on Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Superfund, Toxics, Risk, and Waste Management held hearings.
