• Small Business Compliance Policy
  On April 11, 2000, EPA revised its Small Business Compliance Policy. This policy is available to companies with 100 or fewer employees and is intended to promote compliance among small businesses by providing incentives (in the form of penalty reductions or waivers) to discover, disclose and correct violations.

• Incentives for Self-Policing: Discovery, Disclosure, Correction & Prevention of Violations (Audit Policy)
  On April 11, 2000, EPA revised its audit policy. EPA's audit policy provides incentives to facilities  who voluntarily disclose and take measures to correct violations of EPA regulations. Incentives that EPA makes available for those who meet the terms of the Audit Policy include the elimination or substantial reduction of the gravity component of civil penalties and a determination not to recommend criminal prosecution of the disclosing entity. The Policy also restates EPA's long-standing practice of not requesting copies of regulated entities’ voluntary audit reports to trigger Federal enforcement investigations.
