Fundamentals of Risk Analysis and Risk Management
by Vlasta Molak (Editor), Vlaska Molak (Editor) (November 1996) (Link)
This book bridges the gap between the many different disciplines used in applications of risk analysis to real world problems. Contributed by some of the world's leading experts, it creates a common information base and language for all risk analysis practitioners, risk managers, and decision makers. Valuable as both a reference for practitioners and a comprehensive textbook for students, Fundamentals of Risk Analysis and Risk Management is a unique contribution to the field. Its broad coverage ranges from basic theory of risk analysis to practical applications, risk perception, legal and political issues, and risk management.

Risk Modeling, Assessment, and Management (Wiley Series in Systems Engineering)
by Yacov Y. Haimes (August 1998) (Link)
A holistic exploration of risk that attempts to balance the quantitative and empirical dimensions of risk assessment and management with the more qualitative and normative aspects of decision making under risk and uncertainty. Haimes (risk analysis, U. of Virginia) shows how to quantify risk and construct probability in conjunction with real-world decision-making problems including institutional, organizational, political, and cultural considerations. He avoids higher mathematics whenever possible in his presentation of the material. Includes many case studies used to illustrate the analytical methods under discussion. Intended for risk management professionals working in universities, industry, and government.

Integrated Risk Management: Techniques and Strategies for Managing
Corporate Risk by Neil A. Doherty (March 31, 2000) (Link)
Over the years, risk management has developed separately in both the insurance and financial fields. Today, the two are finding value in each other's tools and techniques. Integrated Risk Management combines the best of the two notions of risk management, insurance and financial, to develop solutions ideal for today's complex risk environment. Tools go beyond hedging strategies to also examine leveraging, post-loss financing, contingent financing, and
fiversification.

Third Party Audit Pilot Project in the State of Delaware (June 2000)
EPA CEPPO, EPA Region III, the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania, and the State of Delaware participated in a pilot study
of using third parties to conduct RMP compliance audits on behalf of
the regulating agency. This first phase targeted Delaware, a state
that had an existing risk management program prior to the federal
program and prior experience with enforcement. This paper summarizes
their findings. (.PDF,

Risk Management: Cost v. Compromise
AcuTech presented a talk to the American Society of Safety
Engineers (ASSE) Symposium in Bakersfield, CA on March 8, 2000.
Discusses the need for a risk-based decision management system in
settling the ongoing question of what level of risk is acceptable.

Risk
Communication for RMP and CalARP
AcuTech
presented a talk to the Western States CAER Conference in May 1998,
which focused on the risk communication issues of particular interest
under California's CalARP program. With the passage of SB 880 and its
new public meetings and/or notice requirements for RMP, this talk gains
additional relevance and importance.

This paper discusses some of the lessons learned from
experiences implementing and complying with this regulation, and
offers advice on how to best work with government regulators and the
public on risk management plan submittals. This paper will concentrate
on the experiences in implementing the California RMPP and how they
might be applied to meeting California’s new RMP rule and the
USEPA’s rule nationwide.
